VIT Vellore - Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore

Primary Engineering Gateway: VITEEE 2026

• Exam Mandate: The VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) is the sole gateway to securing B.Tech admissions; your VITEEE rank dictates both your seat and your fee category.
• Financial Impact: A candidate's rank determines their placement into Category 1 through Category 5, which heavily impacts the total tuition payable over four years.
• Counseling Process: Seat allotment is strictly executed via centralized online counseling based on the All India Rank secured in the VITEEE.

Undergraduate Eligibility (B.Tech)

• Academic Requirement: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 system of higher secondary examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (or Biology for specific branches).
• Minimum Score: Generally mandates a robust aggregate score in the qualifying PCM/PCB subjects to meet cutoff standards for counseling registration.

Postgraduate & Research Eligibility

• M.Tech / MCA / MBA: Handled primarily through the VITMEE (VIT Master's Entrance Examination) alongside accepted national scores like GATE or CAT/XAT for MBA frameworks.
• Doctoral Tracks: Intake for Ph.D. and Direct Ph.D. operates via rigorous institutional research testing and interviews.

Apex Salary Metrics (2025 Milestones)

• Highest Registered Package: The placement drive recorded a monumental highest CTC of ₹ 1.02 Crore (historically matching ₹ 1.00 Crore across campuses).
• Institutional Average Package: The overall mean compensation package for the university stands at ₹ 9.9 LPA.
• CSE Specific Performance: B.Tech Computer Science Engineering students pulled the strongest metrics, securing a robust average package of ₹ 14.8 LPA.
• Overall Placement Rate: Achieved a formidable 99.2% overall placement conversion rate, securing over 14,000 total offers.

Corporate Recruiter Volume

VITEEE 2026 Category-Wise Rank Bands (Projected)

• Category 1 Benchmark: To secure the highly subsidized Category 1 tuition bracket (₹ 1.98L/year for Group B), candidates must generally achieve a VITEEE rank falling roughly between 1 and 5,000.
• Category 2 Benchmark: Admissions falling under the Category 2 fee tier typically demand an All India Rank spanning from 5,001 up to 15,000.
• Category 3 to 5 Bands: Ranks between 15,001 and 30,000 generally fall into Category 3; ranks from 30,001 to 50,000 fall into Category 4; while ranks 50,001 and above face the most expensive Category 5 fee structure.

Branch Specific Demand (CSE)

• Vellore CSE Pressure: B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering at the main Vellore campus dictates the steepest competition, rapidly exhausting Category 1 and Category 2 seats within the first few days of counseling.

Strategic Seat Choice

• Financial Trade-Offs: Because VIT does not officially publish exact category cut-offs, applicants must strategically decide during live counseling whether to accept a Category 4/5 seat in CSE or a Category 1/2 seat in a different branch or campus (like Chennai).
