The academic financial matrix varies slightly depending on whether the program is an AICTE-approved professional course or a UGC non-AICTE program. Fees are collected at the beginning of each semester.

1. Consolidated Academic Fee Matrix (Main Campus)

The primary tuition and development fees for core courses running directly on the university's main Kapurthala campus are detailed below:

2. Breakdown of One-Time & Annual Components

The initial first-semester billing includes multiple mandatory single-payment security blocks and recurring university operational overheads:

• Institutional Security Deposit (Refundable): A core block of ₹ 5,000 integrated into the 1st semester ledger, refunded entirely upon graduation or exit.
• One-time Admission & Counseling Fees: Nominally bundled at ₹ 2,000 – ₹ 3,000 for processing profiles during physical documentation checkups.

IKG PTU Jalandhar: Scholarship & Financial Aid Guide 2026-27

As a major public state institution, I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU), Jalandhar runs a regulated financial welfare layout. Alongside executing extensive state and central post-matric schemes, the university has implemented a revised In-Campus Merit Scholarship Scheme and an institutional Freeship Network. These provisions are designed to reward academic excellence and keep technical education affordable for students across its main campus and constituent satellite nodes.

1. University In-Campus Merit Scholarship Scheme (2026 Batch onwards)

The university board provides automatic, percentage-driven tuition fee waivers during initial admission reporting based on performance in qualifying high school or national entrance tests:

* Note: High rankers excelling in national competitive examinations like JEE Main, CMAT, or GATE receive priority, customized financial concessions matching official university merit distribution lists.

2. Institutional Freeship Schemes & Social Subsidies

Administered directly through the Department of Student Welfare, IKG PTU provides extensive freeship lines for vulnerable and challenged categories:

• Parent Less Students (PLS) Category: Candidates who have unfortunately lost both parents are entitled to an absolute 100% complete tuition fee waiver across their program timeline.
• Father Less Students (FLS) / Low Income Groups: Eligible candidates facing severe sudden hardships or falling into documented low-income groups receive partial to comprehensive 25% to 50% tuition scale drops upon scrutiny of family asset registries.
• Special Abled Students (SAS): Institutional funding concessions mapped natively to support differently-abled engineering or management scholars.

3. State-Level Post-Matric Welfare Integration (Punjab Residents)

Because it operates under the Punjab State Legislative framework, the university processes heavy statutory fee drops via regional social justice departments:

• SC / ST Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme: Bonafide Punjab resident students belonging to SC/ST blocks with a verified annual family income ≤ ₹ 2,50,000 are fully exempted from upfront tuition, development, and university examination charges under government rules. Only minor refundable security tokens are paid during onboarding.
• Punjab State Girl Child Scholarship: Dedicated financial assistance vectors routed in tandem with state policies to encourage female participation in STEM fields.
• Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) Scheme: In compliance with AICTE mandates, 5% supernumerary seats are allocated to high-merit students with household income below ₹ 8 Lakhs per annum, bypassing core tuition ledgers completely.

4. Apex National Scholarships (NSP Portal)

Students hailing from outside Punjab boundaries can link their academic profiles to the central National Scholarship Portal (NSP) to secure centralized funding blocks:

• Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan Yojana (PM-USPY): Fully empanelled framework providing substantial tuition and maintenance support for scholars migrating from Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
• AICTE Pragati & Saksham Schemes: Merit-focused grants delivering ₹ 50,000 annually to tech-track female students (Pragati) and specially-abled technical cohorts (Saksham).
• Research Fellowship Grants: M.Tech scholars holding valid national GATE scores receive monthly stipends directly from AICTE throughout their 2-year research track.

5. Continuous Retention Laws & Compliance

1. The Academic Progression Rule: To claim ongoing scholarship renewals or freeship extensions across subsequent years, a student must clear all semester examinations in the first attempt with a healthy CGPA, maintaining a record with zero active 're-appear' backlogs.
2. Anti-Stacking Policy: Students are strictly blocked from combining multiple government or private scholarship frameworks concurrently. Claiming a state post-matric waiver legally disqualifies a student from holding a central minority scheme simultaneously.

Application Step Note: Eligible applicants must check the scholarship box on the centralized admission window and submit their digital income certifications (issued by a competent revenue official via the Tehsildar office), Aadhaar-linked bank passbook logs, and qualification board marksheets. Dossiers undergo physical audit by the campus verification committee. For portal updates, track details directly at the IKG PTU Student Welfare Desk.
